I've been hearing rumblings of electric-assist kids' bikes for over a year. Haibike makes one and nowWoom Bikes released their mockups today of what seems to be an electric-assist kid’s mountain bike
We don't know much about these so far but here’s what we do know:
• They will only be available in the UK.
• Available in 24” & 26” wheel models
• A super-light aluminum frame utilizing a Fazua motor (looks to be mid-drive) and downtube battery.
• Weight starts at 33.7 lbs.
Pricing is unavailable at this time. I have also inquired about what the speed and torque will be capped at, and of course the name of it.
At this point, I have a lot of questions and mixed feelings about putting a kid on an electric bike but I do understand that many people put kids of the same age on motorcycles. More details to come as I know more!
