For many years the bicycle advocacy side of the industry has held on to the US Bike League's Bicycle Friendly Community as a true measure of how a city is doing to get more people on bikes. There is a new component to this, the People For Bikes - Places for Bikes City Ranking. This ranking system and network analysis can help anyone pick up the reigns to improve cycling in their city. People for Bikes recently released their Places for Bikes City Ranking results. We discuss the program with Jennifer Boldry, Ph.D., Director of Research at People for Bikes. Most importantly, we discuss how having a more connected bike network directly impacts local bike shop growth. This should really matter to you, no matter where you are in the bike industry!
