The Xtracycle Stoker is an offroad-ready electric assist longtail cargo bike (can fit 3 kids) with 24″ wheels.
The step-thru is higher than the Xtracycle RFA or Swoop, but this is the only true longtail cargo bike we know with 24″ wheels. This wheel size makes the deck and weight lower than those of the other longtail offroad-ready cargo bike, the Surly Big Easy, which has 26″ wheels. If you want other off-road-friendly cargo bikes, check out the adventure cargo bike category. Some popular competitors include Benno Boost, Riese & Muller Multicharger, Surly Skidloader, and Tern Orox.
If you like the idea of the 24″ wheels and steel frame, check the Xtracycle RFA, Xtracycle’s midtail version that can hold 2 kids instead of 3 but with a lower step-thru frame.

John G –
I’ve been a lifelong cyclist from bmx to road to MTB to commuting and tandems. With young kids, I turned to cargo bikes as a way to combine family time with riding and maybe save a few carbon emissions in the process. I did quite a bit of research on the major brands and settled on the Stoker since it offered some versatility with its larger, but not too large, wheels. I also appreciated that they have been building cargo bikes a long time, so it felt like a safer choice since I had no prior experience with this category – there are so many small companies with a ton of variety. XtraCycle also offers great accessory bundles at a reasonable price.
