Class 3 Cargo Bike Disclaimer: There is a steep injury curve if you crash your bike over 20mph, so please be mindful when you have precious cargo on board. Whether riding a Class 1 or Class 3, I typically keep my speeds below 16mph if my kids are on board.
I first got to ride an Xtracycle RFA back in 2019. The steel frame and 24″ wheels made for a comfortable ride compared to the other midtails on the market at the time, and I sold a good amount of them at my cargo bike shop. Fast forward, the RFA has even more accessories, a Shimano motor instead of Bosch, and is available in Class 3 / 28mph (the one you are reading) and a Class 1 / 20mph option.
If you like the idea of the 24″ wheels and steel frame, check on the Xtracycle Stoker, their longtail version that can hold up to 3 kids instead of 2.
