This is the bike I’ve ridden for the last two years and it is absolutely fantastic. The Gen2 bikes don’t hold a candle to it, which is mostly due to the smooth and clever automatic shifting–you only have to worry about the assist, not about the gears! Climbs up the steepest San Francisco hills with a 55lb child on the back and two backpacks in the front, and a joy to ride and maintain. Importantly for Bay Area riders–the HSD easily fits in all BART elevators (except for El Cerrito Plaza), so if you live and work on opposite sides of the Bay Bridge, this is the perfect transportation solution for you.
