Bike Shop Girl » riding with children http://bikeshopgirl.com Empowering women in cycling Mon, 17 Jun 2013 11:40:09 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.5 Kids Bike Sales are Rising http://bikeshopgirl.com/2010/05/kids-bike-sales-are-rising/ http://bikeshopgirl.com/2010/05/kids-bike-sales-are-rising/#comments Thu, 20 May 2010 13:10:24 +0000 Bike Shop Girl http://bikeshopgirl.com/?p=1634 According to an industry magazine, Bicycle Retailer, the biggest increase of imported bikes, from China, were kids’ that were up by 48% over last year.  This is a great step forward, and something that I see daily in the bike shop.   More families have been buying into the hobby of the cycling instead of the adults viewing it as a sport that needs to be competed in.  Sharing their love with their family and especially their children.  I wouldn’t be surprised going into the summer if we see that number increase to an even greater number as school lets out and family trips are planned.

An on going series we have had on Bike Shop Girl has been family bike riding.  As May comes to an end we hope to expand this series to help you get your family on their bikes this summer.

Xtracycle is proud to release the PeaPod LT: a child’s bicycle seat that enables a parent to go anywhere they want, carry just about anything they need, and ride with their children in safety and comfort.  With a 5-point safety harness, seat cushions you can wash and a ton of adjust-ability it will allow you to haul your child safely.

Pilot Program

To help the release of this new PeaPod LT the company has a “Pilot Program.“  The program starts this Friday, September 11th.   To the first 50 families you can purchase a Radish paired with a PeaPod LT for $999.  Those families will then document their experiences through photos, essays and videos.  Later in the year judges will pick the family that showed their experiences the best.
