Better Bike Industry
It is very easy to say that I have entered the greatest chapter of my life with the birth of my daughter, Ellington, earlier this year. What I haven’t told you fully is that I stepped out of the full time bike shop world in May to spend most of my days with Ellington.
As a woman that has essentially grown up in the bike industry I really hope that the industry will catch up with the times and start to understand the larger problems that are keeping the industry from growing.
In its second year, the Women’s Bike Mechanic Scholarship program is helping change the face of the bike industry. The program is geared towards bike shop girls only; awarding ten full scholarships to current bike shop girls to attend a two week, in-depth, bike mechanics school!
1,000 posts since starting this site in July of 2009 and I find it very fitting as I will be going back in to the bike shop life this coming Monday as the general manager of all things management at Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop here in Denver, Colorado.
