Motivational Monday with Sue Rawley
What is your name and location?
What type of cycling do you enjoy?
What is your first cycling memory?
I remember “working on” my first bike that wasn’t a hand-me-down from my brother. I would turn it upside down and spin the pedals like I knew what I was doing!
Who inspires you to ride? Better yet, why?
My mom. My mom is going to be 75 next year and she still rides her bike to work. My parents always made cycling and other outdoor endeavors a part of our lives and I’m grateful for that. I will still be riding just like my mom when I’m 75.
What has been your best moment on the bike so far this year?
Finishing in 3rd place overall at the BC Bike Race with my awesome teammate LaJuan Kelley.
Tell us what you ride
My favorite bike ever is being replaced today! Last year I special-ordered a Specialized Epic from Europe so I could still have 26inch wheels. I hand picked every part on that bike and we rode over 2650 miles together in 14 months. The frame had to be replaced for a warranty issue but I’m sure the new one will be just as fabulous! I also just bought a Specialized Crux because I love ‘cross and riding the dirt roads. I hardly ever ride my Specialized Amira road bike just because I love mountain biking more than riding on the road and I live in a place where I can ride trails from my front door forever! I commute on a Breezer Citizen and I have my Raleigh Record from 1974 that my dad restored for me 3 years ago. And the list goes on…
