Tri It For Life, a 501c3 women’s only organization, teaches women how to do their first triathlon. We use the ‘couch to triathlete’ phrase as most of the women haven’t swam, rode a bike, or ran ever or in many years. A lot of the women do not have more than the KMart bike in their garage and many of them borrow their kid’s bikes. It is a hoot. We do our best to help them get a road ready bike so they can complete their 1st triathlon. We ask for cycle communities to give their old bikes an honorable retirement by donating to our organization, knowing, that these women will fall in love with the sport and continue to upgrade bikes in the future.
Check out our website – http://www.triitforlife.com. Experienced triathletes and sports coaches donate their time and resources to train the new Athletes. It is a heart-felt reward for those who donate their resources as it is for those who receive these gifts.
I’ll send your web-site address out to our distribution list. Any articles you can produce specifically for new Cyclist is greatly appreciated. One idea is ‘breathing properly’ when tackling that 1st hill ;>) When I take these girls out for a ride and they do their 1st hill, I hear a lot of OMG’s and it brings back sweet memories of my 1st days on the bike!
Much success to bikeshopgirl!
